Neoangels is a small charity providing financial support to families on the wards of James Cook and North Tees Hospitals. This includes contributions towards families travel and parking, the provision of canteen food vouchers and emergency toiletry bags for those mums rushed in without any kit.
Neoangels also supports the wards by providing equipment to support the medical care of babies. This has included the provision on incubators, stethoscopes, breast pumps, nursing chairs and much more.
Challenge
With no designated office, Neoangel’s part time CEO and charity Trustees were running the charity from home. Like many small businesses working in isolation from home this bought all the usual IT issues. The charity laptop ran slow, the printer was temperamental a bit like Arkwright’s till and a home internet supply just keeps dropping signal. The unknown of “was the antivirus and data back up actually working” was a constant concern. After a lot of frustration and lost hours struggling with the IT problems the Trustees decided the charity needed to find an IT solution. Then potential disaster – the backup hard drive failed.
Solution
Firstly, we were able to retrieve the data from the broken hard drive and then we got creative. At alphatech we had a spare desk in the office and as such decided to offer a flexible ‘hot desk’ facility to the charity’s CEO. The charity already had Office 365 with cloud-based e-mails so we covered all the other IT bases as we would recommend to all our normal business customers. We have provided a computer that simply just works, secure encrypted back up, antivirus protection with support of low costs printing thrown in. alphatech takes its SCR seriously and it’s been a pleasure to help this fabulous charity out.
